Xian & Maison | Film Wedding at Lords Estate Heritage Chapel

By Laced in Vows — Sydney Wedding Photography & Videography

An elegant garden celebration at Lords Estate Heritage in Seven Hills — a heritage chapel, soft afternoon light, and styling so considered that every detail felt entirely meant to be. Captured beginning to end on 35mm film.

Xian and Maison’s day was a balance of stillness and romance. The kind of wedding where nothing is rushed, nothing is loud, and everything is exactly as it should be.

The Venue

Lords Estate is a beautifully restored 1880s heritage property in Seven Hills, just twenty minutes from the Sydney CBD. A Gothic sandstone chapel sits at the heart of the grounds, surrounded by wild country-style gardens, a heritage rose garden, manicured verandahs, and a meadow beyond. The kind of place where the architecture does the styling for you.

The interiors are extraordinary — stained glass windows, cedar-beamed ceilings, candlelight, and rooms that feel layered with the patina of more than 140 years. The original whisky room, with its dark timber and warm light, made the perfect getting-ready space; the chapel itself, glowing softly in the late afternoon, was every bit as beautiful as you’d hope.

It’s one of those rare venues where the romance is built in. Every corner photographs beautifully on film.

The Day at a Glance

Venue:  Lords Estate Heritage Chapel, Seven Hills

Format:  35mm film

Ceremony:  Inside the heritage chapel

Reception:  Garden setting on the estate grounds

Styling:  Soft, romantic, layered with vintage detail

Vibe:  Quietly elegant, intimate, full of warmth

In the Details

Lace, ribbon, an ornate hand mirror, perfume bottles, the soft drape of fabric, a delicate invitation suite — Xian and Maison’s day was held together by the kind of styling details that look effortless but are anything but. Everything chosen, everything placed with care.

Film captures these moments differently. The grain, the warmth, the way it renders soft light through fabric — it gives every still-life and bridal portrait a quiet weight that’s hard to articulate until you see it on a roll.

On Film

Lords Estate and 35mm are made for each other. The warm sandstone, the chapel’s soft light, the country gardens at dusk — all of it lands beautifully on film. These are images that won’t feel of-their-time. They’ll just feel timeless.
